Margo J Bauer

Margo Jane Bauer, 68 of Port Huron, died Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

She was born November 19, 1957 in Port Huron, to the late Milard Joseph and Ruth (Fry) Gruver.

Margo worked for the Port Huron Area School District for 17 years as a paraprofessional. She also spent eight years at Super Kmart, beginning with the store’s grand opening, and later worked for the Council on Aging. She was a graduate of Port Huron High School, Class of 1975 and a proud “Big Red.” She was a member of the Port Huron High School Band Boosters, was involved with Drum Corps International for many years and traveled both with the Cavaliers and the Port Huron High School Band Pioneers Drum Corps. She was the smiling face you always saw and will be dearly missed by our community. Sewing decorations for Christmas and Halloween was also Margo’s passion.

She is survived by her four children, Jason Vatter, Hans Ian (who was placed for adoption), Sara M. (Randy) Bauer- Hausherr and Steve A. Bauer; siblings, Michelle Sherbutt, Melinda Neuman, John Burleigh, Joe (Lucy) Nix, Mark Jaekel and Matt Jaekel; sister-in-law, Sue Nix; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brothers, David Nix, Leo Burleigh and Michael Gruver.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2026 in Grace Episcopal Church. Deacon Linda Crane will officiate.

Inurnment will be in Grace Episcopal Columbarium.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Council on Aging.
