Betty L Scheonrock

Betty Lou Scheonrock, 85, of Fort Gratiot, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday, September 14, 2026, surrounded the family who meant so much to her.

She was born September 10, 1941 in Port Huron to the late Frank and Lucille Wheelihan. She married Robert Scheonrock on January 25, 1964 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Port Huron.

Betty was a 1959 graduate of Port Huron High School. After graduation, Betty worked at Bell Telephone until she started her family. Later when her children were grown, she served as a District Manager for Rubbermaid Party Plan, used her creative nature to help family and friends with wedding and party décor, and crafted beautiful wreaths. Eventually, she opened her own business, Balloons by Betty. Through her balloons, Betty had a special way of bringing color, joy, and celebration into the lives of others. Whether she was creating something for a special occasion or simply doing what she loved, Betty put her heart into everything she made.

To know Betty was to know kindness, warmth, and a smile that could brighten any room. She was the kind of person who never wanted anyone around her to feel alone. Whether you needed someone to listen, a shoulder to cry on, or simply someone to make you smile, Betty was always there. She had an incredible way of making people feel loved, cared for, and important. She was a proud member of the Red Hat Society and lived out their ideals of friendship and joy. When she wasn’t busy crafting, she also enjoyed reading.

Betty was an absolute joy to know. Her happiness most often came from seeing the people she loved happy, and she had a heart that seemed to have room for everyone. She treasured her family more than anything and cherished time spent with them. Her husband, daughter, and grandsons were such an important part of her world, and the love she had for them could be felt in everything she did. She also had a special place in her heart for her furry feline friends who provided her with happiness, companionship and unconditional love.

Betty is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert; daughter, Carrie Martin (Jeff Nichols); two grandsons, Chandler (Kimi) Martin and Mitchell Martin (Lynzie Kirkendall); cousins, Peggy (Tim) McMann, Lori (Jim) Blum and their son, Martin; many dear friends; and her cat, Simba.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a special aunt, Donna (Harold) McKinnon; and her beloved cat, Periwinkle.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2026 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 25, 2026 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Phil Whetstone will officiate.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fort Gratiot. Pallbearers will be Chandler, Kimi and Mitchell Martin, Jeff Nichols and Lynzie Kirkendall.
