John G Bucholtz

John George Bucholtz, 90, of North Street, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, September 27, 2026.

He was born August 6, 1936 in Smiths Creek to the late Leo and Bernice Bucholtz. He married Diana Dyer on October, 8 1983 in Port Huron and their life together was a fairy tale marriage.

John was a salesman for Coca Cola Bottling and Blue Water Vending for many years and then went to work with Eugene Welding until his retirement. He was skilled in all trades, could fix everything, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was diligent in making his home warm, safe and comfortable for he and Diana. He enjoyed gardening and sharing his bounty with friends and family. Above all, he was a family man who took great pride being a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He had a servant’s heart who started as an alter boy in the Catholic Church but later became a member of Hillside Wesleyan Church where he was head usher for 17 years and continued to serve the Lord until he was taken from us.

John was a wonderful entertainer who played the accordion and keyboard for 17 years with his band. He was a 15-year member and past president of the Michigan Sports Buggy Association.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Diana; children, Deborah (Jim) Biskner, Pamella (Steve) Zak, Fred (Karen) Bucholtz, Dennis (Susan) Bucholtz and Ken (Peggy) Dyer; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Christensen; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Leo Jr. and Tom Bucholtz.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026 in Hillside Wesleyan Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Longtime friend and pastor, The Reverend Bill Kinnan will officiate.

Burial will be in Kinney Cemetery, Clyde Twp.
