Margaret "Peggy" R Johnson

January 20, 1940 to October 04, 2026

Margaret Rose “Peggy” Johnson, 86, of Marysville, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Peggy was born on January 20, 1940 in St. Clair Shores to the late Frank and Mary Billiet. She was married to the late William “Duke” Johnson for thirty loving and enjoyable years before his passing on October 12, 2015. They enjoyed their many travels together especially being snowbirds to their home in Florida.

For twenty years Peggy worked at the Peoples/NBD Bank as a teller and book keeper. She had many long-lasting friendships with her co-workers and built a strong report with her customers throughout the years before retiring in 1995. She also worked for Pollock Randall Funeral Homes. For thirteen years she was able to welcome and help families during those hard days with her exceptional people skills and her compassionate personality. She loved working there.

She loved gardening, listening to the birds, flowers, music, dancing and of course, cruising in her Mustang convertibles. Her fluency in the Italian language, sewing and crocheting were self-taught. She was also a member of the GNO (Girl’s Night Out) group. A group made up of some family members and close friends. She looked forward to the monthly meetings of going out for dinners, doing projects, going to the movies or just hanging out and catching up. She was so loved by the group, and will be greatly missed.

While battling many health challenges throughout her life she carried herself with grace, strength, and determination and never complained. She always met life’s challenges with a positive attitude seeing the good in every situation. Those who knew her were blessed to be witness to her kind-loving spirit, warm smile and loving heart. Peggy lived her life with integrity, faith, purpose, loyalty and most of all, unconditional love. She had a remarkable way of making everyone feel supported and loved, always there with encouragement, wisdom or a listening ear.

She loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them. Peggy will always be remembered for her smile, giving the best hugs, strong hand holds and keen sense of humor. To know her was to love her.

Peggy is survived by her daughters; Rosetta (Peter) McMahon, Theresa “Terri” Mininni, Michelle “Mickey” Rogers, Rochelle “Shelly” Fischer, and Renee (Mark) Coleman; and son Craig (Stephanie) Johnson; grandchildren, Aaron Fowler, Chrystal (Josh) Fowler, Sean (Melanie) McMahon, Brandon (Kristen) Rogers, Jessica (Zack) Heller, Paige (Bret) Bluhm, Markus Coleman, Chase Coleman, Whitney Coleman, Sydney Coleman, Marcella Darczy-McDonald, Owen Johnson and Avery Johnson and eight great grandchildren; four siblings, Fran (Al) French, Butch (Julie)Billiet, Alice Jokie and Debbie (Ron) Storey; sister in law, Olive Hartman, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Duke Johnson, two sisters, Mary Billiet and Sylvia Carter and her grandson Christopher McMahon.

Peggy’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her home caregivers; Sue Vanderwill, Wendy Haffner, and Sandy Shultz. A special recognition to Wendy, for extending her care, friendship and love to Peggy at the hospice home. Peggy’s family would also like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Blue Water Hospice home for surrounding Peggy with such comfort, compassion and loving care.
