Betty Cruickshank

Betty Marie Cruickshank, 88, of Fort Gratiot, formerly of Marysville, died Saturday, July 14, 2012.

She was born March 29, 1924 in Port Huron to the late James and Clara Blanche Simpson. She married Roger Corry in 1942 in Port Huron. He died in 1951. She married David A. Cruickshank on April 25, 1958 in Port Huron. He died January 18, 2002.

After the death of her first husband, Betty returned to school so she could provide for her family and received her nursing degree from Port Huron Junior College. She went on to be an operating room nurse at Port Huron Hospital for 30 years. She was a member of Ross Bible Church. Her hobbies included almost anything outdoors including, fishing, waterskiing, snow skiing, snowmobiling and going in the dune buggy.

She is survived by two daughters, Sally Corry and Judith Conger; two step daughters, Sandra (Ashley) Grant and Susan Smith; special friend, R. Dennis Smith; grandchildren, James (Cassandra) Conger, Rebecca (Nektarios) Demetriou, Kellie (Dan) Dunlap, William (Sheri) Grant, Shane (Stacy) Grant, Denise Smith and David Smith. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Gordon Conger.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 in Ross Bible Church. The Reverend Steve Scott will officiate.
