Harry Shubert
Harry Joseph Shubert, 83, of Port Huron, entered eternal life on Monday, August 20, 2012 after a long illness. He was born December 22, 1928 in Parisville, Michigan to the late Leo and Johanna (Leppek) Shubert. He married Rosemary Glombowski on September 29, 1956 in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Port Huron. Mr. Shubert graduated from Maryville High School in 1947. He served in the U.S. Army as an MP and sailed the Great Lakes on the Joshua Hatfield as a Merchant Marine. He was a barber in the area for 60 years and enjoyed gardening. He is survived by his wife of nearly 56 years, Rosemary; three daughters, Mary Anne Spangenberg of Memphis, Karen Shubert of Port Huron and Julia (Gerald) Kraft of Chesterfield; three grandchildren, Michael (Courtney) Spangenberg of Raleigh, North Carolina, Jacquelyn and Ian Kraft of Chesterfield; a great grandson, Desmond Spangenberg of Raleigh, North Carolina; a brother, Ervin (Violet) Shubert of Arizona; a sister, Else McComb of St. Petersburg, Florida; and his beloved dog, Frankie. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanor Langolf and Delores Laber. Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the Marysville Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Shubert will lie in state from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 27, 2012 in St Joseph Catholic Church, 28049 School Section Road, Richmond. The Reverend Steven McDonald will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Port Huron. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Richmond or Mercy Hospice.
