Michael Donald Green, 59, of Fort Gratiot, died Sunday, September 2, 2012.
He was born December 13, 1952 in Port Huron and was a lifelong area resident. He married Janice Branch on February 14, 1992 in Port Huron.
Mr. Green was a Lieutenant with the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department and had 23 years of service. He was past president of the Police Officer's Association of Michigan and Command Officer's Association of Michigan and a member of Port Huron Lodge #58 F. & A.M. He coached and managed in the Port Huron Little League. Before joining the Sheriff's Department, he owned and operated Studio Photography. He and his wife Janice enjoyed taking trips to Las Vegas.
He is survived by his wife, Janice; two sons, Travis (Brandie) Branch and Tyler Green; his mother, Laurena (Kenneth) Schwem; his father, Larry (Joanie) Green; a sister, Lori Schwem; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jeanne and Fran Giacalone; brother-in-law, Jerry (Lisa) Owen; sister-in-law, Joleen (Terry) Martin; aunts and uncles, Donald (Connie) Muir, Paul (Peggy) Muir and Margaret Ann (Leo) Johnston; many nieces, nephews and cousins, and one grandniece.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2012 in First Congregational Church with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. The Reverend Kenneth Gadd will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational Church.
