George J Dobratz
George J. Dobratz, 96, of Port Huron, died Wednesday, September 12, 2012.
He was born October 1, 1915 in Port Huron to the late George and Meta Dobratz. He married Louise Dagg on February 23, 1946 in Port Huron.
Mr. Dobratz worked at Chrysler Corporation in both Centerline and Marysville prior to his retirement. He graduated from Port Huron High School in 1936. He received a Purple Heart for wounds received during the D-Day invasion of World War II while serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter #12, V.F.W. Charles Schoor Post #796 and St. John's United Church of Christ. He enjoyed polka music, dancing and playing Euchre. He was a handsome man with amazing blue eyes and the best hair in the whole family.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Louise; a sister, Dorothy (Jack) Young; two nieces, Barbara White and Pat Cox (Graham Colditz); great nieces and great nephews, Jason White, Brian (Denise) White, Stuart White, Andrew (Anne) Butler and Louisa Butler; and several great great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 14, 2012 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Elder Larry Miller will officiate.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ.
