Howard DeLong

Howard George DeLong, 80, of Port Huron Township, passed away at home and went to be with the Lord Saturday, September 15, 2012.

Howard was born August 1, 1932 in Treverton, Pennsylvania to the late Chester and Elva DeLong. He married Valarie Boccia on April 28, 1970 in Mt. Clemens.

Howard retired from General Motors Corporation. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Intrepid, also known as The Fighting "I". His passion was spending time with his family, while hobby time was spent tinkering in the garage. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge and Shriners.

Howard is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Valarie; two daughters, Catherine Sopha and Dara (Nick) Montagano; four grandchildren, Sadie Sopha, Max Sopha, Chris Montagano and Alex Montagano; his sister, Dolly (Fritz) Ambrose; brother, Dale DeLong; several nieces and nephews; and special friends who were like family, Craig and Cathy Gardner and Janine Seeley.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. Tuesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. Military honors will be conducted by the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council at 4:00 p.m. A Liturgy of the Word will be held at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 in Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township.

Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
