Jason W Thorpe
Jason William-Carey Thorpe, 41, of Marysville, died unexpectedly Tuesday, October 2, 2012 as a result of a construction related accident.
He was born July 1, 1971 in Port Huron to Janet and the late Larrie Thorpe. He married Deyna Christian on November 20, 1998 in Port Huron.
Jason graduated from Marysville High School in 1990 and was a member of Carpenters Local #687 currently working for DiPonio Contracting. His main passion in life was hockey. He coached his son’s hockey teams throughout their careers and also played himself. He enjoyed boating, spending time at the beach, working and just keeping busy.
He is survived by his wife, Deyna; two sons, Devin and Brendan Thorpe; his mother, Janet Thorpe; two sisters, Lora Ferrera and fiance, Darren Cullimore and Connie Ferrera and husband, Ralf Schechinger; nieces and nephews, Aleisha, Joshua and Jayd Ferrera, Sofia and Mitchel Schechinger, Ashley Gauthier and Jacey Pettersen; great nephew, Rylan Goris; great niece, Rylee Corrigan; and three sisters-in-law, Cher (Al) Gauthier, Dia and Andrea Christian.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larrie; and grandparents, Stewart and Edna Carey.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday in the Marysville Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2012 in the Marysville Funeral Home. The Reverend Phil Whetstone of Colonial Woods Missionary Church will officiate.
Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Egan, Michael “Boston” Gagne, Luke Ressler, Andy Fraley, Ralf Schechinger and Joshua Ferrera.
Memorials may be made to Deyna Thorpe to be used for the children’s education.
