Donnamarie Harris

Donnamarie Madaline Harris, 84, of Fort Gratiot, formerly of New Baltimore, Mt. Clemens, St. Clair Shores and Kimball Township, died Monday, October 22, 2012.

She was born October 4, 1928 in Detroit to the late Simon James and Margaret Mary Kittler. She married Roy A. Harris on September 6, 1947 in New Baltimore. He died on April 18, 2008.

Donnamarie was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church. Together with her husband, she consistently worked to add to the lives of others, through donations to the Council on Aging of fresh and preserved food from their garden and annually adopting a family through church at Christmas. She was artistically inclined and enjoyed drawing and painting, writing, needlework and sewing, and cake decorating. She was also an avid camper and a former member of the When-Do-We-Go-Camping Club. Most recently, she attended the Silver Sneakers at the YMCA.

She is survived by three children, Roy J. (Ann) Harris, Margaret C. (Rick) Burgess, and Theresa M. O'Brien; six grandchildren, Rick (Naomi) Burgess, Dianamarie (Jamie) Baker, Bree Patterson, Patrick (Tara) Harris, Michael Harris, and Carlie (Larry) O’Brien; 11 great grandchildren; five siblings, James P. (Linda) Kittler, Simon J. (Peggy) Kittler, Richard M. (Jane) Kittler, Carol Kittler-Gaza, and John L. Kittler; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Marysville Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

Mrs. Harris will lie in state from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2012 in St. Christopher Catholic Church. Reverend Arthur Baranowski will officiate.

Entombment will be in Christian Memorial Cultural Center, Rochester Hills. Pallbearers will be Donnamarie’s grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Christopher Catholic Church, the Council on Aging, or Marwood Nursing and Rehab.
