John E Lander
John Edward Lander, 80, of Fort Gratiot, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 5, 2012.
He was born July 5, 1932 in Detroit to the late Benjamin and Jennie Lander. He married Myrtle M. Sutton on June 16, 1952 in Detroit.
Mr. Lander owned and operated Custom Woodworking. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, played drums with the Salvation Army band for over 50 years and was a percussionist with the International Symphony Orchestra. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Myrtle; three children, John E. Lander Jr., Elizabeth (Roy) Pierce and Benjamin (Joyce) Lander; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennie Mae; and two sisters.
A private memorial service for his family will be held in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend Tim Anderson will officiate.
