Darwin E VanSlyke
Darwin E. VanSlyke, 82, of Port Huron, died Friday, November 9, 2012.
He was born September 19, 1930 in Oneida, New York, to the late Charles and Maude VanSlyke. He married Joan M. Stockburger on April 25, 1959. She died on July 26, 2003.
He retired from the maintenance department of Warren Consolidated Schools and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed collecting antique model cars and coins.
He is survived by a son, Frederick (Valerie) VanSlyke; three daughters, Deborah Axelrod, Sharon (Gerald) Taylor and Jody (Chris) Ripkey; six grandchildren, Kristy, Tammy, Daniel, Amy, Trisha, and Karissa; and two very special caregivers at the Blue Heron House, Linda and Marcella Taylor. He was preceded in death by his five brother, Donald, Kenneth, Charles, James and Raymond; and two sisters, Erma and Viola.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2012 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate.
Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.
