Dale William Summerer, 80, of Port Huron, died Tuesday, November 27, 2012.

He was born November 15, 1932 in Port Huron to the late Walter and Edna Summerer. He married Erma Jean Whitican on March 26, 1960 in Port Huron. She died May 24, 1989.

Mr. Summerer was employed with the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in November 1987. He served in the U.S. Navy as a radio operator on the USS Cogswell during the Korean War. Dale was a 1951 graduate of Marysville High School and loved watching Viking sports throughout the years. He especially enjoyed cheering on the Viking Volleyball team, the Detroit Red Wings, and the Detroit Lions.

He is survived by his daughters, Linda (Jon) Napolitan of Port Huron and Wendy (Dave Pickford) Grecni of Kissimmee, Florida; five grandchildren, Andrew, Daniel (Jennifer) and Matthew Napolitan, Emily and Sarah Grecni; a special cousin, Frank (Mary) Summerer; brother-in-law and friend, Richard Haenke; brothers-in-law, John Whitican and Ken (Elaine) Whitican; dear friends, Steve & Marianne Guitar, Jack & Joan Reid and Eric & Beth Klump; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dana Dean Haenke; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2012 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend Stan Liechty of Colonial Woods Missionary Church will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.
