Laura June Poulsen, 51, of Smiths Creek, died Sunday, December 2, 2012 at home surrounded by her family after a long illness.
She was born February 8, 1961 in Mt. Clemens to Daniel and Norma Jean (Knapp) Aleman. She married Daniel Poulsen on November 5, 1988 in Eastpointe.
Mrs. Poulsen earned her Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Our Lady on the River Parish.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel; a son, Manuel (Mary) Poulsen; a daughter, Samantha Poulsen; four grandchildren, Tyler, Ethan, Sara and Sophia Poulsen; her parents, Daniel & Norma Jean Aleman; a brother, Daniel (Scott Sturza) Aleman; five sisters, Cheryl (Jeff) Martin, Debbie (Dave) Walker, Dawn (Ed) Ditrapani, Diane (Matt) Nichols, and Wanita (Dave) Zimmerman; her husband’s parents, John & Louise Poulsen; a brother-in-law, Dave (Gina) Poulsen; two sisters-in-law, Donna (Bob Aldini) Tanghe and Denise (Paul) Wentland; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. Thursday in the Marysville Funeral Home.
Mrs. Poulsen will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 7, 2012 in Holy Cross Catholic Church, Our Lady on the River Parish, Marine City. The Reverend Robert Schuster will officiate.
The Rite of Committal will follow in Caswell Cemetery, Kimball Township. Pallbearers will be Dave Walker, Dave Zimmerman, Matt Nichols, Daniel Aleman, Ed Ditrapani, Jeff Martin, Dave Poulsen and Paul Wentland.
