Elaine I Whitican
Elaine Isla Whitican, 84, of Port Huron, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 13, 2012.
She was born on October 16, 1928 in Port Huron to the late Gordon and Isla (Reid) Reichard. She married Kenneth Whitican on September 4, 1948 in the Missionary Church.
Elaine graduated from Port Huron High School in 1946 where she sang in the Bess Hyde Choir. After graduation, she worked at Mueller Brass for five years, later became an Avon Representative for ten years, and then worked as a Paraprofessional at Garfield Elementary School for six years. She was a lifetime member of Colonial Woods Missionary Church and annually attended Brown City Church Camp.
She enjoyed summers at Lakeside beach, boating, trips in the motorhome, and spending time with her grandchildren. She had a special affinity for cardinals and will be remembered for her culinary delights and delicious confections.
She is survived by her husband of over 64 years, Kenneth; two children, Frederick (Cheryl) Whitican, Colonel USAF Retired of Xenia, Ohio and Rebecca Webb of Lakeview, Oregon; six grandchildren, Andrea, Michael, Ryan, Danielle, Kristyn, and Austin; three great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Ashton, and Cailin; a brother, David (Carol) Reichard; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Judy Whitican in 1961; sister, Norma Graichen; brother, Donald Reichard; son-in-law, Thomas Kinsman; son-in-law, Matthew Webb; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday in Pollock Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Colonial Woods Missionary Church. The Reverend Jack Woodburn of Colonial Woods Missionary Church will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron.
