William G Johnson
William G. "Bill" Johnson, 77, of Port Huron, met his Lord and Savior when he was welcomed home to heaven on Friday, December 21, 2012.
He was born March 31, 1935 in Ludington, Michigan to the late Oscar and Adella Johnson. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn. He married Kathie Dame on August 23, 1963 in Ludington.
Mr. Johnson graduated from Ludington High School and also from Michigan State University with degrees in Music and Guidance & Counseling. He was a member of the MSU bands and was privileged to play in the Rose Bowl. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He taught school for 35 years, the last 29 in Port Huron, retiring in 1997. He was a member of Ross Bible Church for many years where he led the music program. He was also involved with the youth, several boards and sports programs. He attended Colonial Woods Missionary church the last years of his life. He enjoyed reading, music, sports, traveling, and especially being with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathie; two sons, Gordon Johnson of Ruby and Gregory (Cheryl) Johnson of Traverse City; three grandchildren, Erin, Holly and Seth Johnson of Traverse City; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, December 23 and Wednesday, December 26 in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 27, 2012 in Colonial Woods Missionary Church. The Reverend Phil Whetstone will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Colonial Woods Missionary Church Counseling Center or the Grand Traverse Academy Music Program.
