William J Patterson
William J. "Bill" Patterson, lifetime Marysville resident, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at McLaren Macomb Hospital.
Bill was born September 17, 1929 in Port Huron to the late Raymond and Beatrice Patterson. He married Marjorie Force in Marysville in 1953.
Bill was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the 11th Airborne Division during the Korean War.
Bill was one of the original Civil Defense Divers in Marysville and was a founding member of the Fathom Finders Scuba Club. He was instrumental in developing the Lake Huron Lore Marine Museum and along with other local divers, donated many marine artifacts for public display.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #449, Algonac Historical Society and Model T Club of Detroit.
Bill retired from the Grand Trunk Railroad after 30 years of service.
William was preceded in death by his father and mother; brother, Joseph (Kathleen) Patterson; sister Helen (K. Don) Williamson; and brother-in-law John Force.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; sons, Captain Michael (Angela) Patterson of Sault Ste. Marie and Captain Scott Patterson of Kimball Township; grandchildren, Sean, Kelli and Tom; daughter-in-law, Pam Patterson; great grandchildren, Niko and Carter; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bob and Eva Philips and Kay Force; and several nieces and nephews.
At Bill's request there will be no service.
Donations may be made in Bill's name to Blue Water Community Food Depot in Port Huron or SOS Marysville Food Pantry..
