Mary May
Mary Avila May, 82, of Port Huron, died December 28, 2012 in Port Huron Hospital Emergency Room.
She was born May 21, 1930 in Port Huron to the late Fred J. and Mabel (Ronan) Handley. She graduated from St. Stephen’s High School in 1948.
Mary served as church organist at St. Mary Catholic Church for 33 years and then at St. Stephen’s Church for 8 years. She was a member of Charles Hammond Post # 8 American Legion Auxiliary. She also worked for the City of Port Huron as a McMorran Parking Lot attendant.
She is survived by three daughters, Christine (Bryan) Quayle of Sandpoint, Idaho, Catherine May and Cheryl (Tony Zaremba) May, all of Port Huron; two sons, Robert (Arline) May Sr. of Smiths Creek and Timothy (Lenae) May of Port Huron; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Father Robert J. Handley, Michael J. Handley and Frederick V. Handley.
Visitation will be 6-8 PM Wednesday and 2-4 & 6-8 PM Thursday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
The Funeral Mass will be at 10 AM on Friday, January 4, 2013 in St. Mary Catholic Church. The Reverend Joseph Gagnon will officiate.
The Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert May Jr., Sean & Chad Richardson and Zach May.
