Carl George Klaas, 85, of Port Huron, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 18, 2013 after a short illness.

He was born August 19, 1927 in Port Huron to the late Carl F. and Millie Klaas. He married Jean Rogers on August 23, 1952 in Detroit. She died September 20, 2009.

Carl worked for Mueller Brass Company for 42½ years, retiring in 1987. He also worked for National Pride Car Wash part time for many years, and sharpened and repaired lawn mowers. He liked to play euchre with cousin, Carol and Chuck Coggins and good friends, Bev and Al Wieland. He also loved to bowl, bowling in the Marysville Rec league at Blue Water Bowl for over 35 years, and in the senior leagues. He also liked fishing for walleye with his brother-in-law, Marty and cousin, Chuck.

He is survived by two children, Bryan (Linda) Klaas and Linda (Bob) Silver; four grandchildren, Corey Fisher and Andy, Katie and Ryan Silver; sisters, Madeline (Don) Martin, Marilyn McDonald, Emily (Tom) Boden and Ester (Larry) Beldock; two sisters-in-law, Marge Hoekstra and Shirley (Dave) Kidle; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gale Klaas Swain; three brothers-in-law, Raymond McDonald, Martin Hoekstra and Jack Rogers; and sister-in-law, Jackie Rogers.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Monday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 in the Marysville Funeral Home. The Reverend Donald Doerzbacher will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery.

Carl received loving and great care from Passions Continuing Care AFC Home, and his favorite girls, Kim and Chrissie, and wonderful care from Heartland Hospice, Kathy, Kathy, Bill, Tonya, Mary and Chaplain Anthony.
