Olo C Austin
Olo C. Austin, 101, of Fort Gratiot, died Monday, April 8, 2013.
She was born April 21, 1911 in Morenci, Michigan, to the late William L.B. and Olo (Sebring) Collins.
Mrs. Austin graduated from Morenci High School in 1929 and received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan in 1933, majoring in journalism and economics. She was a member of Theta Sigma Phi, honorary journalism society. While in college, she was on the staff of the Michigan Daily and was a member of Choral Union and Girls Glee Club.
She was employed by Detroit Bank and Trust (now Comerica) for many years, the last several as editor of "The Teller" magazine. She was a member of the American Institute of Banking, Industrial Editors Association of Detroit, Women's Economic Club and Women in Communication group.
She married Richard Austin in 1962 and they enjoyed traveling in the U.S., Europe and the Middle East. She is survived by her daughter, Lucia Austin Nett; two grandchildren, Melissa (Jeffrey) Wilson and Michael Austin Nett; great grandchildren, Jacob, Catherine and Thomas Wilson; nieces, Margaret Skolnick and Carolyn Bender; and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2002; a sister, Calista Collins; and brother and sister-in-law, William B. & Allie Collins.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, 2013 in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery.
