Barney Thrushman
Barney Thrushman, 85, of Marysville, died Friday, April 12, 2013 in Mercy Hospital.
He was born April 24, 1927 in Huron City to the late Barney and Lillian Thrushman. He married Gertrude Masar on October 17, 1981 and she preceded him in death on June 8, 2012.
Mr. Thrushman was employed with Prestolite Wire Company for 21 years and retired as Plant Manager of DACA Industries. He was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed supplying produce from his garden to friends and family. He coached his son's Little League and Babe Ruth baseball teams, enjoyed watching sports and going dancing with his wife. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
He is survived by five children, Gwen (Andy) Womack, Ronald (Carol) Thrushman, Vicky Thrushman, Dale (Ruth) Thrushman and Rick Thrushman; the mother of his children, Olga Frazier; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; his step children, Ronald Masar, Beverly Vansach and Louis Masar; four step grandchildren; eight step great grandchild; one step great great grandchild; a brother, Charles Thrushman; three sisters, Eleanor Nowiski, Mary (Barney) Oderfer and Ann Schubring; many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Molly. He was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday in the Marysville Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 2013 in the Marysville Funeral Home. The Reverend John Hitzeroth of Pilgrim Lutheran Church will officiate.
Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ryan, Josh, Jeremy and Ron Thrushman, Jerry and Jacob Hendrick. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.
