Robert E Miller
Robert Eugene Miller, 72, of Marysville, died Friday, May 10, 2013 in his home after a long illness.
He was born September 25, 1940 in Marysville to the late Lawrence B. & Grace Miller Sr. He began school at Marysville’s Washington Elementary and graduated from Marysville High School in 1958. He attended Port Huron Junior College.
He married Janet Elaine Balhoff on February 16, 1963 in Marysville.
Mr. Miller worked from 1962 through 1973 for St. Clair Rubber Co. where he served as a quality control inspector, foreman and R. & D. technician. He then worked for Intertape Polymer Group for 27 years, retiring in 2000.
He spent many years as a Special Police Officer with the Marysville Police Department. He represented the Department at Police functions, displaying his extensive collection of law enforcement artifacts. He met many people and made a great number of longtime friends from police agencies throughout Canada and the U.S. He was a member and past president of the Fraternal Order of Police --Wm. E. Lewis Lodge #129. He was a life member of the N.R.A., a member of the Blue Water Sportsmans Club and enjoyed pistol shooting sports.
Mr. Miller was very active with the Gardens School P.T.A. and went on to serve on the Marysville School Board from 1977-85, acting as Board President for five years. He also served on the Marysville Recreation Board for two years.
For more than fifty years, Mr. Miller was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Marysville, where he was an usher, Sunday School superintendent, adult class teacher and Deacon Board chairman. He looked forward to being with his many brothers and sisters in the Lord whenever the church doors were open.
His family and church were the focal points of his life and he especially loved spending time with his three grandchildren. He was blessed to see his entire family trust the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and he is waiting for them to be together forever in eternity.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Robert W. “Corky” (Kimberly) Miller of Clyde Township and Michael (Rebecca) Miller of Marysville; three grandchildren, Jacob, Hunter and Hannah Miller; a brother, Glen (Judy) Miller of Kimball; two nieces, Carol Mancini and Judy Lee Michaels; and three nephews, Butch, Lawrence & George Miller.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Miller and Roberta Jean Wolfe and a brother, Larry Miller.
Visitation will be from 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Monday in the Marysville Funeral Home, 1200 Michigan Avenue.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, May 14, 2013 in First Baptist Church of Marysville, 1234 Sixth Street. Pastor Dallas Berry will officiate.
Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery.
