Ella L Brakeman

Ella Louise Brakeman, 85, of Clyde Township went home to be with her Lord on Friday, May 31, 2013.

She was born July 30, 1927 in Yale to the late Almon and Myrtle Ryder. She married Harry M. Brakeman on August 20, 1948 in Fargo, MI.

Mrs. Brakeman attended the Chicago Evangelistic Institute and was a faithful pastor's wife and missionary for the United Methodist Church for 64 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Since 1976, Ella and Harry both traveled extensively to Haiti helping to establish 18 schools and churches as well as the Brakeman College which now has an enrollment of 900.

She is survived by her husband, Reverend Harry Brakeman; three children, Gilbert (Donna) Brakeman, Vonda LeSauvage and Nadine (Ron) Porter; four grandchildren, Bethany (Mike) Walters, Carla (Len) Dyke, Shawna (Chris) Hurst and Will (Lovina) Gayowski; four great-grandchildren, Austin, Morgan, Brooklyn and Rhonin; a brother, Harlan Ryder and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Beatrice (Denver) Lossing and sister-in-law, June Ryder.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013 in First United Methodist Church with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. The Reverend William Wright will officiate.

Burial will be in Kinney Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Brakeman School in Haiti, Simpson Park Camp or First United Methodist Church.
