Bernard Ernest Hartel, 82, of Marysville, died unexpectedly on Thursday, June 6, 2013.

He was born November 22, 1930 in Marysville to the late Ora and Lulu Hartel. He married Elaine A. Phillips on January 31, 1953 in Marysville.

Mr. Hartel was a maintenance foreman for Mueller Brass for 37 years. He was a 1948 graduate of Marysville High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, fishing and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elaine; three children, Ruth (Dick) Allore, Michael (Karla) Hartel and Nancy (Lorenzo) Marte; six grandchildren, Kathy (Ross) Pitcole, Christine Bank, Phillip (Holly) Hartel, James Hartel, Zane Marte and Cole Marte; a great granddaughter, Rossalyn Pitcole; a sister, Arlene (Skip) Loxton; a brother, Lawrence (Doris) Hartel; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Betty & William Hubbard.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 10, 2013 in Pilgrim Lutheran Church. The Reverend John Hitzeroth will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.
