Dorothy M Lacey

Dorothy Margaret Lacey, 88, of Port Huron, went to sleep in peace and the glory of her love for her Lord on Wednesday, August 7, 2013.

She was born February 14, 1925 in Detroit to Peter and Elizabeth Dienes. She married Harold George Lacey on March 2, 1946 in Dearborn. He died March 15, 1983.

Mrs. Lacey worked at Jack Smith’s Market as a cashier and also at A & P Tea Company and Sears, Roebuck & Company as a merchandise pricer. She volunteered with the Port Huron Hospital Auxiliary for 22 years, with the Senior Center for 10 years, and helped Dan Lundblad with the C.W.M.C. Widows Support Group for 10 years. She was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and vacation Bible school. She was baptized, confirmed and married and her son, Harold, was baptized at Atonement Lutheran Church in Dearborn by Pastor Paul Buecler. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, traveling and The Birthday Club Ladies. She loved to be with people.

She is survived by a son, Harold R. (Barbara) Lacey; a daughter, Karen E. Lacey (James Work); two grandchildren, Rebecca M. (Chris) McNaughton and Peter A. (Debra) Lacey; four great grandchildren, Nolan A. Lacey, Alison Kay Lacey, Jake McNaughton and Joshua McNaughton; a sister, Evelyn S. Mayer; three brothers, Otto Ray Dienes, Calvin (Terri) Dienes and David Dienes; many nieces and nephews; her loving cat, Muffy; dear friend, Sallie A. Sargent; and many more close friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 12, 2013 in Faith Lutheran Church with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. The Reverend C.J. Randsdell and the Reverend Tim Eichberger will officiate.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church or the American Lung Association. Arrangements are by Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
