David Jones
David William Jones Jr., 95, of Fort Gratiot, died Sunday, August 18, 2013.
He was born February 19, 1918 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to the late David and Clara Jones Sr. He married Helen E. Clark on October 14, 1950 in Detroit. She died on April 14, 2010.
David played the trumpet and had a small dance band in the late 1930s while he attended Bucknell University. In 1940 he moved to Detroit and was employed by the Murray Corporation. In 1961 David moved to Ohio and obtained an executive position with Hoover Company which allowed him to travel to Europe and South America. Following Hoover, David was the general manager and President of Kelvinator, and then an officer and stockholder in Travco Motor Home Corporation. He then became a commercial and residential real estate broker before retiring in 1989 to Port Huron. David was a member of the Lakeshore Presbyterian Church.
David is survived by his sister, Claire Mott, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2013 in Lakeshore Presbyterian Church with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. The Reverend William Wingrove will officiate.
Burial will be in the Croswell Cemetery, Croswell.
Memorials may be made to Lakeshore Presbyterian Church or Blue Water Area Humane Society.
