Richard J Brooks
Richard Jay Brooks, 69, of Fort Gratiot died August 25, 2013.
He was born November 4, 1943 in Port Huron to the late Jay and Elizabeth Brooks.
Mr. Brooks served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. After his return he worked as an optician and small engine repairman prior to his retirement. He was also a published author, gunsmith, martial arts and women’s self defense instructor and a member of the Civil Air Patrol. He enjoyed going for donuts with the guys, telling jokes and playing the guitar. He was a member of the R.L.D.S. Church, Marysville Branch.
Mr. Brooks is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jane; three sons, Adam (Dorothy) Falk, Michael (Erica) Brooks and Heath Brooks (Renee Reifert); step son, Lee Reish; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Falk, Tamiera Perkins, John Perkins, Ian Perkins, Noah Brooks and Justin Reish; a sister, Marilee Brooks Soltis; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Elder Gary L. Wesch will officiate. Burial will take place in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Nathan Wilkins, David Fields, Lee Reish, Adam Falk, Michael Soltis and Justin Reish. Military honors will be provided under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council and the U.S. Air Force.
