William G Barnhardt

William G. Barnhardt, 72, of Kimball Township, died Friday, September 13, 2013 at home unexpectedly.

He was born August 29, 1941 in Pontiac to the late George and Marjorie Barnhardt. He married Revilla “Billie” Haacker on May 25, 1963 in Flint.

Bill was a licensed Marine Surveyor and Ship Captain. He was a co-founder of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets Corp, FC Sherman Division, and was instrumental in bringing the SCS Grayfox, the largest Sea Cadet training vessel in the U.S., to Port Huron. For many years, Bill spent countless hours aboard the Grayfox helping young men and women learn about life aboard a naval vessel. He was a founding member of Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church and served the church in many different capacities. He was a member of the International Shipmasters Association, Navy League of the United States and the Port Huron Power Squadron, enjoyed fishing up north at his cabin, and served on the Kimball Township Fire Board for 25 years.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Revilla “Billie” Barnhardt; two daughters, Stacey “Tiger” (Scott) Boyle and Kimberly (Scott) Kendall; six foreign exchange children, Stig Fisker, Tina Madsen Forrester, Stefan Seidl, Tomi Mannikko, Marianne Irion and Mika Periomaki; four grandchildren, Madeleine and Jack Boyle, Hailey and Owen Kendall; his stepmother, Leonora Barnhardt; sister, Colleen Waller; two step-sisters, Patsy Craig and Cherie Romito; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Brad; and half-sister, Kathy Gulledge.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Monday and 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. Tuesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2013 in Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church, 4475 West Water, Port Huron. The Reverend Andrew Schroeder will officiate.

Burial will be in Caswell Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church or the FC Sherman Division of the Sea Cadets.
