Darold F Cowper
Darold Francis Cowper, 90, of Port Huron, died Thursday, October 10, 2013.
He was born August 30, 1923 in Port Huron to the late Noah and Della Cowper. He married Wanda Davidson on July 31, 1943 in Springfield, Missouri.
Mr. Cowper retired from SEMCO Energy as a customer service manager in 1985. He was a 1941 graduate of Port Huron High School. He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre as a member of the 501st medical collecting company and was in the 7th wave of the Normandy invasion. He attended Colonial Woods Missionary Church where he served as an usher and assisted with funeral dinners for many years. He was a past President and past Deputy District Governor of the Port Huron Lions Club and a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a pitcher on the SEMCO and church baseball teams.
Darold is survived by his wife of 70 years, Wanda; a daughter, Gaye (Craig) Moody of Marysville; two grandsons, Jason (Suzanne) Moody of Wyoming, Michigan and Eric (Heather) Moody of Delaware, Ohio; four great grandchildren, Elijah, Ryan, Emery and Claire; a sister, Erma Brown; two sisters-in-law, Gloria Cowper and Loraine (Robert) King; nieces and nephews, Pamela (Jerry) Turner, Jill (Steve) Cramer, Larry (Terry) Cowper, Susan Beebe and Carol Ridings; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by a son, Darold G. Cowper; and a brother, Sheldon Cowper.
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 14, 2013 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend Stan Liechty of Colonial Woods Missionary Church will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army.
Memorial contributions may be made to Colonial Woods Missionary Church or St. Clair First United Methodist Church.
