Anna M Harper

August 21st, 1911 to March 19th, 2014

Anna Marguerite Harper, 102, of Newark, Delaware, formerly of Port Huron, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014.

She was born August 21, 1911 in Port Huron to the late John and Agnes Breckon. Anna spent most of her life in Port Huron, until moving to Delaware to live with her daughter on August 19, 2003.

Ms. Harper graduated from Port Huron High School in June, 1930. She was employed in Sperry’s credit office for eight years. She later retired from Leath’s Furniture in 1972 where she worked in their credit office.

Anna loved music, gardening, reading and cross word puzzles. She became legally blind in 1993 at the age of 82 due to macular degeneration. Still, she occasionally played the piano and organ for church services by ear and from memory. She was a member of the Salvation Army “Golden Agers” and played in their “Kitchen Band” in Port Huron. Anna was also a member of the Restored Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and sang in the choir for many years. She was also a member of the Newark, Delaware Senior Center and enjoyed their aquatic exercise program 3 to 4 times a week. Anna was a current member of the RLDS Restoration Branch.

Anna is survived by three daughters, Margaret A. McEachen (William) of Delaware, Donna J. Hamilton of Michigan, Sandra J. Burke (Richard) of Washington; three step children, Florence Durrant, Irene Gillis (Jerry), Vernon A. Coop (Donna), all from Michigan; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and many step great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9pm, Wednesday, March 26, 2014 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Restored Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with visitation starting at 10:00a.m. Elder David Teeple will officiate.

Burial will take place in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
