Obituary

Gary James Hillger Sr., 68, of Kimball Township, died Sunday, March 22, 2015.

He was born July 21, 1946 in Port Huron to the late James and Betty Hillger. He married Elaine Atkins on December 7, 1968 in Port Huron.

Mr. Hillger was employed with Chrysler Corporation and was Vice President of his Local Union. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was Past Commander of VFW May O’Brien Post #8465. Gary enjoyed golfing, travelling and going up north to their cottage in Caseville. He loved watching his children play sports and shared a passion for cars and racing with his grandson.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine; two children, Gary J. (Christine) Hillger Jr. and Tracy Lynn Hillger; a grandson, Jonathan Hillger; three brothers, Terry (Kathy) Hillger, Randy (Mary Fran) Hillger and Greg Hillger; an aunt, Cleo Deising; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. Wednesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. VFW May O’Brien Post #8465 and Auxiliary will perform a post ceremony at 6 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2015 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. Pastor Dennis Cook of the Restoration Station will officiate.

Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Port Huron Township. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the Veterans Honor Guard Alliance. Pallbearers will be Ed and Dave Atkins, Robert Leslie, Larry Schwark, Rich Kippen and Don St. Clair.
