E. Eleanor Zuidema, 93, of Port Huron, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 7, 2015.
She was born on March 14, 1922 in Port Huron to the late Warner and Mary Baldwin. She married William P. Zuidema on August 15, 1942 in Port Huron. He died on August 16, 2000.
Eleanor graduated with the PHHS Class of 1939 and worked as a teacher aide at Woodland School for 20 years before her retirement. She was a longtime member of Griswold Street Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and very active in the Ladies Missionary Society and Lael class. She was a volunteer at the Port Huron Hospital gift shop and for the American Red Cross. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, gardening and church activities; but more than anything, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Alex) Langolf and Judy (Larry) Dismuke, all of Port Huron; seven grandchildren, James (Dawn) Langolf, David Langolf, Mark (Debbie) Langolf, Daniel (Autum) Langolf, Michael (Stefenie) Block, Christy (Tyler) Ingle, and Megan (Eli) Brewer; 16 great grandchildren, Kristen, Jeffrey, Emily, Benjamin, Kaitlyn, Kayla, and Isaiah Langolf, Zachary Fisher, Sarah, Andrew, Rachel, and Aaron Block, Caleb and Dallas Ingle, and Vivien and William Brewer; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; parents-in-law, Frank and Alice Zuidema; and several siblings.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 13, 2015 in Griswold Street Baptist Church. The Reverend James Pettit and Dr. Timothy North will officiate.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron. Eleanor’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
