Obituary

Marion Jane Relken Stephens, 103, of Fort Gratiot, joined God in heaven on Sunday, November 8, 2015.

She was born September 22, 1912 in Port Huron to the late Charles and Susan Relken. She married Gerald Stephens on June 18, 1939 in Port Huron. They lived happily on Lake Huron until his death in 1971.

As a young woman, Marion worked at Mueller Brass, and later for the Port Huron schools as a cook, at Keewahdin and Port Huron High Schools. She was a lifelong member and hard worker for St John's United Church of Christ and the JOY guild.

Marion loved God, her church, her family, and many friends. She was a kind and loving person. Marion will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

She is survived by a daughter Carol Sue Stephens (John) Sawyer; two grandchildren, Pamela Sawyer of Vermont and Lieutenant Colonel Timothy (Jennifer) Sawyer of Hawaii; two great grandchildren, Nathan Sawyer and Benjamin Sawyer; and several loving and supportive nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Relken and Elliott Relken.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 in St. John’s United Church of Christ with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Pastor Joe DeHass, chaplain of Blue Water Hospice, will officiate.

Graveside services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ, 710 Pine St., Port Huron.

Our family would like to express our love to Gail Nawrock, Linda & Larry McNamara, who contributed immeasurably to her long life and comfort. The family would also like to thank The Sanctuary at Mercy Village, Dr. Anil Patel, Blue Water Hospice, Tidelands Hospice (Georgetown, SC), Dr. Lawrence Mann, and the many friends and neighbors who have cared for and loved her.
