Grace V Cedervall

September 27th, 1926 to May 27th, 2016

Grace V. Cedervall, 89, of Port Huron died Friday, May 27, 2016.

She was born September 27, 1926 in Flint to the late William and Alma Mahosky. On September 1, 1952, at the young age of 27, her husband Olen “Pete” VanBuskirk contracted polio and died leaving her a widow with two toddler boys. Two years later, on November 20, 1954, she married Eric Cedervall. They were married 20 years and blessed with three children. Eric died on February 23, 2015.

Her family and her faith in God were most precious to Grace. Her biggest desire and greatest joy was being a mother and she was the best! Her love and kindness were an example to all of us.

Grace attended the Salvation Army and Colonial Woods Missionary Church and was a member of the Salvation Army Golden Agers. She loved to read her Bible and complete search-a-word and crossword puzzles.

After raising her children, she worked in food service for the Port Huron Area School District. She was also a housekeeper at Evangelical Nursing Home and when chosen as employee of the month, was described as always having a kind word and sweet smile for the residents there.

Those left to cherish her memory are her four children, Wayne VanBuskirk, Terry VanBuskirk, Vicki (Kirk) Edwards and Andrew Cedervall; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Todd) Dolinski, Terry VanBuskirk Jr., Kevin (Brittney) Edwards, Justin (Trisha) Edwards and Katie Snuggs; six great grandchildren; sister, Linda Yarger; and several nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Allan Cedervall in 2014; seven sisters, Luella, Dorothy, Myrtle, Ruth, Jeanette, Wanda and Delores; and three brothers, Elgin, William and infant, Raymond.

Memorial services will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army Golden Agers.
