George F "Joe" Landschoot

June 30th, 1950 to August 9th, 2016

George Franklin “Joe” Landschoot, 66, of Kimball Township, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday morning, August 9, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Port Huron to Mary and the late Harold Landschoot on June 30, 1950. He married Donna Berish, his best friend and literally “the girl next door” on August 10, 1973.

Joe retired from B&L Industries after over 40 years of service. He was an Eagle Scout and member of the Michigan Beekeepers Association.

He leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Donna; their four children, Julie (Mike) Ward, Angela (Todd) Urban, Beth (Bob) Harrington, and Joel Landschoot; his two mighty fine grandsons, Gabriel and Samuel Urban; his mother, Mary Landschoot; his siblings, Judy Landschoot, Maggie (Jim) DeVeny, Tom (Janet) Landschoot, Mary “Boo” (Will) DeVeny, and Dan Landschoot; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Earl; and friend, Steve “Weaver” Landschoot.

“My husband was always able to make life fun, he was the biggest kid. Joe could find the joy in everything.” - Donna

“Our dad was loved by all who met him. He loved everyone as they were and reminded us that we’re not done. Everyone is a work in progess, even if they don’t know it yet.” - Joe’s children

“We love our grandpa and always had fun with him. He could make us laugh when we were sad. “One more time” was never a problem for our grandpa!” - Gabe & Sam

Joe’s family has no doubt that he was greeted in Heaven with “Well done, good and faithful servant!” Matthew 25:23.

Memorial visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the Marysville Funeral Home.

Memorial services will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the Marysville Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. The Reverend Mark Seppo will officiate.

Because of Joe’s love of bees, in lieu of flowers sent to the funeral home, please plant a “bee friendly” bush or flower in your yard. Memorials may be made to the Fremont Area Community Foundation (for the fund of the Michigan Beekeepers’ Association) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
