Jeffery G Glyshaw

January 7th, 1965 to January 19th, 2017

Jeffery Glenn Glyshaw, 52, a lifelong resident of Ruby, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2017 after a short illness.

He was born January 7, 1965 in Port Huron to the late Glenn and Virginia Glyshaw.

Jeff was a 1983 graduate of Yale High School. He enlisted in the military right after high school, serving in the US Navy as his father and grandfather had. He sailed aboard the USS Saipan (LHA-2) out of Norfolk, VA, traveling to several overseas ports in England, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Cuba, and also sailing above the Arctic Circle. While in the Navy, their deployments included participation in Operation Urgent Fury off Grenada, and in the Mediterranean during the Libya conflict.

Jeff was a Member and Past President of the Ruby Lions Club. He could always be found working at their Pancake Breakfasts and softball tournaments. He was a member of the FOE Aerie 3702, Port Huron. He worked as a machine maintenance technician in the plastics industry in the Port Huron and St. Clair area. He loved Tigers baseball, and Red Wings hockey. He loved to cook, being the one in the family that could duplicate those recipes of Mom’s even though she never wrote them down. He was always generous with his time, and anything he had.

Jeff is survived by his sister, Marcy (Jay) Brueggeman of Jeddo; was close with his cousins, and is blessed to have many good friends. He is also survived by his Uncle & Aunt, Hank and Lila Lee Fasel of Avoca. Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Vernon and Eunice Glyshaw of Ruby, Ellen Pat (Curly) Harris of St. Clair Shores, Victor and Helen Grzyb of Riley Center; aunts and uncles, Sophie and Stanley McNutt of Memphis, Stella Grzyb, Charlotte and Maynard (Bonnie Jean) Hoffman of Riley, John and Julia Grzyb of Capac, and Verdene (Reaume) Glyshaw of Arizona; special friend, Bill Watson of Ruby; and his dog, Natasha.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, February 25, 2017 in the Ruby Lions Hall with visitation beginning at 11 a.m.
