Charlotte Sparling
Charlotte Mae Sparling, 92, of Fort Gratiot, went home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, July 10, 2017.
She was born February 14, 1925 in Fort Gratiot to the late Max and Elizabeth Richter. She graduated from Port Huron High School class of 1942 and married Orvall Arthur Sparling on September 4, 1948 in Port Huron. He died November 4, 2005.
Mrs. Sparling lived her entire life on the property she was born on. She loved hosting family gatherings, decorating her house for Christmas, giving gifts, and loving on her children and grandchildren. Her greatest joy was teaching the Word of God to children. She served as a CEF Good News Club teacher in her home, and as a Vacation Bible School director, Junior Department Sunday School Superintendent, and children’s church ministry coordinator, each for many, many years and all at Ross Bible Church. She finished her years of service as a Sunday School teacher, retiring reluctantly at the age of 85. She was a beloved and faithful member of Ross for over 60 years. She also loved music and teaching children songs about her Savior. She leaves behind a legacy of godliness and faithfulness to all who knew her.
Charlotte is survived by her children, Mark (Brenda) Sparling, David Sparling, Jim (Kathie) Sparling and Sharon (Joel) Caminiti; 15 grandchildren, Amanda, Shannon, Amy, Chad, Travis, Kerrie, Tyler, Daniel, Michael, Rachel, Andy, Bethany, Melissa, Casandra and Jamie; 10 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by siblings, Florence Hagle, Bessie Flowers, Max Richter and Elmer Richter.
