John F Liverance, Sr.

John Frederick Liverance Sr., 77, of St. Clair Township, died at home Saturday, September 29, 2018 with his loving wife of 54 years, Nancy by his side.

He was born May 6, 1941 in Port Huron to the late William J. and Fern M. Liverance. He married Nancy Ulrich on June 20, 1964 in Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Clair.

John was employed through the years at Mueller Brass, Pontiac Motors, Miracle Maid Cookware, Southeastern Michigan Gas Co and Ford Motor Company, where he retired after 26 years of employment as a Master Pipefitter.

He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion through the Edward J. Mallorey Post #449, Blue Water Aerie #3702 Fraternal Order of Eagles, International Association of Lions Clubs in Ruby, and Moose Lodge #158. He was also an associate member of the William E. Lewis Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #129 where he was the President of the associate members on multiple occasions, keeper of the 129 Club, and was presented the John Liverance Award for Outstanding Service earlier this year.

John enjoyed camping in the RV with Nancy, which they did a lot in the summer with trips to Florida and all around Michigan, and he was president of Good Sams Club Chapter 42. He was known as the “Potato Man” at the Octagon Barn in Gagetown, Michigan for the many years that he manned the french fry booth. He was also an expert in canning Liverance hot peppers and tomatoes and making homemade sauerkraut for Immanuel Lutheran Church, of which he was a lifelong member and usher.

John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy; sons, John F. (Tammy) Liverance Jr. of Goodlettsville, Tennessee and Henry J. (Kristi) Liverance of Dunedin, Florida; daughter-in-law, Vivian Liverance; grandchildren, Aaron, Austin, Ariel, Danny, Dusty, Jerod, Nadia and Monique, Jessica (Terry) Duckworth; great granddaughter, Riley May Duckworth; brother, Willard (Carolyn) Liverance; sisters, Hazel, Fernetta, and Catherine; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his son, Gordon; identical twin brother, Jim; and 15 other siblings.
