Olive L "Lucy" Wedge
Olive L. “Lucy” Wedge, 92, of Port Huron, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 12, 2018.
She was born October 30, 1926 in Port Huron to the late Lester and Nina Cornwell. She married Percy Wedge on September 9, 1945 in Port Huron. He died on August 15, 1994.
Lucy was a resident of Marwood Nursing and Rehab for the past eight years. The staff loved and adored her sweet smile and the love she radiated. She was an LPN with Port Huron Hospital for 30 years, and worked as a scrub nurse for Dr. Townley for a few years. She also worked at Howell, also known as Ainsworth Manufacturing, as their Industrial Nurse and retired from there. Lucy was instrumental in establishing the Woodland Developmental Center, which began in the basement of a church. She served on the board and was very involved with the ARC, now Community Enterprises. She also volunteered with the Port Huron Hospital Auxiliary.
Lucy attended the River Church. She taught disabled children in Sunday School for many years. She loved music and loved her Lord. She enjoyed sewing and cooking.
She is survived by five children, Linda Albert, Terry Wedge, David (Cheryl) Wedge, Becky Wedge and Peggy (John) Carpenter; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Elenor Benner; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Mary Wedge; two sisters, Norma and Ethel; and a brother, Elmer.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2018 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate.
Inurnment will be in the Allied Veterans Cemetery Columbarium.
