Tamara Hope Sokoloff
Tamara Hope Sokoloff, 83, of Brookdale Farmington Hills, Michigan, passed away on April 10, 2020, of complications related to cerebrovascular disease.
She was born on March 31, 1937 in Port Huron, Michigan, to Sophie K. and Alexis Nikanor Sokoloff.
Tamara earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, with Distinction, and a Secondary Permanent Certificate in Education from the University of Michigan, and was awarded a National Science Foundation Grant to study mathematics at the University of Illinois. Tamara worked as a schoolteacher in Marysville, Port Huron, Marine City, and Detroit.
Tamara was a lifetime member of many organizations including Order of The Eastern Star, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, American Society of Dowsers, University of Illinois Alumni Association, and University of Michigan Alumni Association. Tamara spoke Russian fluently, traveled around the USA, and was a lover of music who enjoyed both singing and playing the piano.
Tamara was preceded in death by her brother, Alexis Russlan Sokoloff. Her brother, Mark Alexis Sokoloff passed away on May 25th, 2020. Tamara is survived by her two sons, Paul Alexis Sihon and Mark Andrew Sihon.
