Glenn Edgar Stevenson
Glenn Edgar Stevenson was born September 15, 1917 to Robert and Jennie Stevenson (Leslie) in Port Huron. He passed away in his home December 12, 2011 at age 94.
He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Doris (Dicer), and children Ralph of Atwater, CA, Bethany Nelles of Fenton, MI, Douglas of Maplewood, NJ, William of Gretna, LA, Martha Stevenson/Doty of Fairbanks, AK, and James of Ferndale, MI, as well as 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen, and son, David. He married Helen Smeckert in January 1943.
Glenn attended Port Huron schools, graduating from Port Huron Junior College in 1937. He was commissioned as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy, becoming a pilot in 1938. He served with the Atlantic and Pacific fleets as a PBM patrol bomber aircraft commander, retiring as Lieutenant Commander in 1947.
Glenn was an agent for Equitable Life and Penn Mutual upon returning to Port Huron. He was a lifelong member of the Washington Avenue United Methodist Church. Visitation is from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, 912 Lapeer Avenue, Port Huron. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, December 15, 2011 in Washington Avenue United Methodist Church, 1217 Washington Avenue, Port Huron with visitation an hour before the service. The Reverends Robert Chapman and Nickolas K. Genoff will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Graveside military honors will be under the auspices of the U.S. Navy.
