William C "Bill" Steiner

July 30th, 1940 to December 13th, 2021

William Carl “Bill” Steiner, 81, of Port Huron, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 13, 2021 surrounded by family after a long bout with COPD.

He was born July 30, 1940 in Port Huron to the late Mary and Carl Steiner. He attended Trinity Lutheran School from kindergarten through 8th Grade, Washington Junior High and was a 1958 graduate of Port Huron High School. After high school, Bill worked for Cunningham’s Drug Store at the candy counter and was later promoted to pills and tablets. He met Patricia Meter in 1963 and they married on July 27, 1963. It wasn’t until 1965 that Bill found his true passion in life as a welder for Grand Trunk Western Railroad. He retired as an inspector with Grand Trunk on October 13, 1998.

Bill loved laughter. His goal on a daily basis was to show kindness and to make people laugh, making the world a little brighter every day. Whether it was a Steiner Story or a knock-knock joke, he always carried a smile in his pocket and a song in his heart. He will be forever missed but the stories will live on for generations to come.

Above all, Bill had a remarkable faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a devout Lutheran and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Port Huron. Bill loved spending time with his family, watching freighters pass by on the water, the sun on his face and being with the people and family he so loved.

He is survived by his daughter, Kim (Steve) Westbrook; his son, Douglas G. Huston; grandson Bradley Westbrook and fiancée, Randi Schnell; great granddaughter, Jasmyne Westbrook and fiancé Mason Johnston; a niece LouAnn (Bob) Andrews; several grand nieces and nephews; special cousins, Linda Dodge, Dick (Gail) Steiner and Nancy Briggs; and a grand canine and faithful comrade, Marmie.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patty, in 2016; his parents, Mary and Carl Steiner; a sister, Susie (Larry) Lindsey; a nephew, Bill Lindsey; and a cousin, James Steiner.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, December 17, 2021 in Faith Lutheran Church with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Reverend Timothy Eichberger will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron.
