Gerald R Bailey

Gerald Ross Bailey, 81, of Smiths Creek, Michigan, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022.

He was born July 1, 1940 to Marie R. and Ross B. Bailey. Jerry was the first born of seven children. He was always a loving brother to all his siblings.

Jerry graduated in 1958 from St Stephen High School in Port Huron. Jerry married the love of his life Judith A. Langolf on July 7, 1962. Shortly thereafter he left for the U.S. Army and was stationed in Vietnam, Thailand and Fort Carson, Colorado. He returned in 1965 where he enrolled at SC4, and also Macomb Community College where he became an intern in pharmacy. He started working at Barnet Drugs in Port Huron. He changed course over time and worked at Prestolite Wire, Collins & Aikman, as well as a few other places.

He yearned for country living and moved the family to Smiths Creek in the early 70’s. He truly enjoyed gardening. Always planning ahead what he wanted to plant. Jerry also loved feeding and watching the birds as well as fishing, and telling stories. He always enjoyed getting together with his family for “Mother’s Day” lunches every month. He loved every minute he had with his grandkids and great grandkids. He was also an active member of the Port Huron Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses. He loved God with all his heart.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Judith; his daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Tim Holmes; his son, Andrew Ross Bailey; grandchildren, Kayla, Collin, Max and Dominic Bailey; great grandchildren, Alexis, Chloee and Kylee Parker and Liam R Bailey; and his siblings, Marlene, Kay, Sharon, John T., Ruth and Robert Bailey. He was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Joshua O. Parker and Gabrielle Miller.

Per Jerry’s request there will be no visitation and cremation has taken place.
