Joanne Masar Dumas

February 23rd, 1943 to October 5th, 2024

Joanne Masar Dumas, age 81, of Pinehurst, North Carolina, formerly of Marysville, passed away at home on Saturday, October 5th, 2024, surround by her children with the help of First Health Hospice after a very brief illness. She was born Feb 23rd, 1943, to the late Donald and Doris Dumas.

She graduated from Marysville High School in 1961. She was a tremendous mother and grandmother, who always put the family’s needs before her own. She loved her family and friends wholeheartedly and unconditionally. She was a sitter for many neighborhood kids, cared for people in their homes and was a nanny for her grandkids. Later in life she obtained her CNA certification and worked in several Assistance Living communities and was proud to be the employee of the month at several locations. Her selfless nature and compassion will be deeply missed.

She enjoyed word search puzzles, watching the “Price Is Right”, was an avid animal lover and cared for numerous animals of all shapes and sizes throughout her life. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and the family was able to celebrate it with her with a live tree before her passing last week.

She is survived by her son, Jeff (Jeffery) Masar; daughter, Linda Roberts both of North Carolina; grandchildren, Stephany Yow, Jeffrey Masar Jr, Christopher (Emma) Masar, and Lauren Masar; a great grandchild, Corey Yow; brother, Rick (Zebbie) Dumas; sister in-law, Beverly Vansach; nieces, Deanna (Aldo) Flores, Brenda Chivers, and Pam Hendrick; nephews, David (Denise) Bull, and Gary (Darla) Vansach, Jr; and many great nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael; sister, Karen Bull; the father of her children, Ronald Masar; and many aunts & uncles.

Visitation will be held from 2-4, 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2024, in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Marysville with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Michael Opfermann will officiate.

Burial will be at Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville. Pallbearers will be Jeffrey and Christopher Masar, Gary Vansach Jr. Mark Green and Corey Yow.
