Douglas Paul Ireland, 65, of Port Huron, died Thursday, October 24, 2024.

He was born September 11, 1959 in Port Huron to Eleanor and the late Richard Ireland Sr.

Doug was a former Captain of a pilot boat on the St. Clair River. He enjoyed his job immensely and retired about 10 years ago. Doug had a passion for motorcycles, boats, and animals, particularly his sweet dogs and cat. He cherished spending quality time with his close family and friends, creating joyful and memorable moments together.

He is survived by his son, Chad (Serena) Ireland; mother, Eleanor Ireland; sister, Diana (Daniel) Galinis; three granddaughters, Cheyenne, Arianna and Desiree; great granddaughter, Naomi; niece, Jodie Bryant; and long-time companion, Tricia Woolner. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Ireland Sr.; and his brother, Richard “Rick” Ireland Jr.

Private family services will be held.

Inurnment will be in Woodland Cemetery, Port Huron Township

Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Water Area Humane Society or the Blue Water Recovery and Outreach Center.
