Susan E Welser
Susan Elaine Welser, 95, of St. Clair Township, passed away peacefully Monday, October 28, 2024.
She was born June 4, 1929 in St. Clair to the late Art and Lillian Brabender. She married Clarence Welser on July 3, 1946 in Port Huron.
Together with Clarence, Susan owned and operated Welser Well Drilling for over 45 years and was a member of the Michigan Well Drillers Association Auxiliary. She was a frequent Red Cross blood donor, giving as often as was allowed. She served as a volunteer at Mercy Hospital in Port Huron for over 25 years. She was a lifelong Catholic. Most of all, Susan dedicated her life to her family. She was especially proud of her grandchildren’s accomplishments in scouting, with all seven of her grandsons becoming Eagle Scouts and her granddaughter earning the Girl Scout Gold Award.
She is survived by four children, Paul (Kathy) Welser, Jim (Laura) Welser, Jane (Bill) Barden and Susie (Lou) Gordon; eight grandchildren, Jon (Brittany) and Jamie Welser, Jason (Elyse) and Justin (Beth) Welser, Luke and Caleb Gordon, Erik (Beth) and Ethan (Nancy) Barden; nine great grandchildren, Ben Welser, Ava and Brayden Welser, Parker Welser, William and Diane Barden, Nate, Jack and Nick Barden; several nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Fran Reno. She was preceded in death by five siblings, Donna Mau, Joan Ladiski, Betty Woolman, Dick Brabender and Kenneth Brabender; and a great granddaughter, Jillian Clare Barden.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 15, 2024 in Holy Trinity Parish St. Stephen Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Bradley Forintos will officiate.
Burial will be in Caswell Cemetery, Kimball Township.
Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Water Hospice or the Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation.
