Mary Lou Archer

Mary Lou Archer, 93, of Marysville, went home at last to the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, February 1, 2026.

She was born January 5, 1933 in Buel Township, the youngest child of Birdie and Neal Russel Sr. The family moved to Port Huron when she was 10 months old

Mary Lou graduated from Port Huron High School in 1950. She attended Detroit Bible Institute for one year before earning her degree from Port Huron Junior College in 1953 and graduating from Wheaton College in 1955. She taught at Washington Junior High, where she met her future husband, Garry Archer. They were married on August 1, 1959, at Court Street Baptist Church.

She was a woman of great faith who loved the Lord. She was active throughout her life in the church at Court Street Baptist, First Baptist of St. Clair, and First Baptist of Marysville, teaching Sunday School for many years and serving in other areas as well. She enjoyed traveling the country with her husband in their camper. She cherished her family and was devoted to them, following all the athletic and other activities of her children and grandchildren and lovingly encouraging them to live in the faith.

She is survived by three children, Cathy, Doug (Nancy) and Eric, and “foster” family, Grace Belen and Jasper; five grandchildren, Craig (Kelly) Archer, Michelle (Josiah) Eberle, Kevin (Jennifer) Archer, Mark Archer and Brayden Archer; ten great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Garry. She was the last surviving member of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, LeVern (Virginia) Russel, Ann (Gil) Hunt, Floyd (Joyce) Russel, Doris (Charles) Dake, Betty Bassett, Wilma (Leo) Lepien; and her in-laws, Walker (Mary Grace) Archer.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, February 5, 2026 in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2026 in Ross Bible Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Steve Scott will officiate.

Burial will be in Elk Township Cemetery, Peck. Pallbearers will be Craig, Kevin, Mark and Brayden Archer and Josiah Eberle.
