Michael J. Daniels

Michael James Daniels, 86, of Wales Township, died Thursday, February 12, 2026.

He was born July 20, 1939 in Mount Clemens to the late Earl and Viola Daniels. He married Mary C. Palmer on June 27, 1981 in Cass City.

Michael was employed as a certified welder with Detroit Edison for over 30 years. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially scuba diving in the Great Lakes and bow hunting. He loved dogs, particularly German Shepherds.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary; eleven children, Scott (Moni) Daniels, Lynn (Ken) Bilyeu, Lori Barnett, Mark Daniels (Damany Jennings), Vicki Monolidis, Julie Lulis, Joseph (Cathy) Daniels, Diane (Fred) McCallumore, Traci (Dan) Diller, Rebecca (Jeff) Kleeves, Michael (Kelly) Kasdorf; 17 grandchildren; 34 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Daniels Jr.; 7 siblings; and D.D., his loving German Shepherd.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2026 in First United Methodist Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Drew Hart will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Water Area Humane Society or the Michigan War Dog Memorial in South Lyon.
