John J Zimmerman

John J. Zimmerman, 77, of Marysville, died Friday, March 6, 2026.

He was born October 1, 1948 on the family farm in Croswell to the late John and Dorothy Zimmerman. He married Barbara Huffman on October 4, 1968 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Port Huron.

John was employed at General Motors for over 30 years before his retirement in 2005.

He was an avid fisherman who traveled across Michigan in search of the best fishing spots. John had a passion for anything with a motor, especially antique cars. He enjoyed attending car shows and collected die-cast model cars. He also loved motorcycles, tractor shows and cuckoo clocks.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara; three children, Brenda (Bill) Kester, Jodi Zimmerman and Jason (Terri) Zimmerman; eight grandchildren, Brianna, Billy (Shay), John (Hailey), Jason (Mack), Brendan, Kassidy, Madison, and MacKenzie; 7 great-grandchildren, Logan, Mady, Brookelyn, Myla, John Jr., Blaire, and Seraphina; four siblings: Jan (Mike) Odle, Gary (Patty) Zimmerman, Dave (Rhonda) Zimmerman and Stan (Barb) Zimmerman; in-laws, Sharon Black, Deb (Mike) Torzewski and Cathy Huffman; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Joyce and Howard Huffman; and two brothers-in-law, Dave Black and Howard Huffman Jr.

A memorial event to celebrate and honor John’s life will be held at 2 p.m.on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at the Family Tradition Tree Farm, 5808 Griswold Road in Kimball. MI 48074.

Graveside services will be held at the Riverlawn Cemetery Columbarium, Marysville at a later date.
